What began as a desire to perform, evolved into a non-profit organization dedicated to providing venues for local Jazz vocalists and musicians to showcase their talent. HARMONY OF THE SOL, INC., a 501(c)(3) corporation, was founded in March 1999 with the purpose of bringing Jazz and local professional Jazz artists into the community. We educate the community about Jazz by exposing them to local musicians who perform and experiment with original compositions and styles. We also provide a venue for new Jazz artists to develop and fine-tune their craft. HARMONY OF THE SOL, INC. provides non-traditional venues for Blues and Jazz performances. Some of the venues include small theaters, bookstores, museums, community centers, senior centers, libraries, etc. These concerts provide alternative family entertainment and are for the young and the young of heart. HARMONY OF THE SOL, INC. conducts blues and jazz workshops for up and coming musicians including young students and adults. These workshops provide an opportunity for young musicians to perform with seasoned jazz musicians and to learn more about the art of performance. Many of the concerts have been supported by grants from the Howard County Arts Council and the Howard County Government.
